It sounds, plays, feels and looks good - everything you need a beginner electric to do. Thankfully, the Bullet Mustang doesn’t suffer too dramatically from these hardware qualms.įor the price, the Squier Bullet Mustang is a pretty impressive piece of gear. Squier Company was a manufacturer of strings for violins, banjos, and guitars. It was established in 1890 by Victor Carroll Squier in Battle Creek, Michigan. In 1965, the company was acquired by Fender.By 1975, Squier became defunct as a manufacturer and a brand name for strings, as Fender opted to market its strings under the Fender brand name. If your guitar goes out of tune more and more with each chord played, then it won’t be a guitar you want to pick up very much. Especially when it comes to guitars for beginners, hardware is an often overlooked, but crucially important factor. In terms of hardware, the Bullet Mustang pleasantly surprised us, with a solid six-saddle hardtail bridge and die-cast tuners holding up well in all of our tests. They respond to gain and dirt as well as any other stock pickups and are perfect for making a true racket when paired with an overdriven amp. It’s not ‘traditional’ Mustang territory, granted - but as a general use electric guitar, there’s little to complain about. The quality of the neck pickup was another surprise for us, producing some really lovely thick tones. Granted, they don’t offer the same kind of versatility as a Stratocaster or Telecaster pickup configuration, but the bright, snappy tones come in their droves when the Mustang is running through a clean channel on the bridge pickup. They’ve got some depth and warmth to them, without sacrificing their fairly trademark ‘Fender’ tone. Squier’s pickup choice of two full-size humbuckers is fairly atypical for a Mustang, but in the case of the Bullet Mustang it works a treat. If i get this guitar i will have it decalled with fender, but if ever a time comes when i have to sell this, i just wanna know if this really is a fender and not a squier one, so i could tell.Luckily for the Bullet Mustang, it doesn’t just look and feel good - it sounds good too. I dunno if i were to believe the seller's story but the seller is claiming that this is a fender one, not a squier one. To be honest I dont think it makes sense and this makes me think of the sanding-off-squier-logo syndrome. And this telecaster was the only one he could sand off easily and get easily restored. According to the previous owner, it was sanded off to avoid paying high import tax in the airport since he was bringin 5 guitars at that time. The evidence makes it a legit fender but the head stock was sanded off. #Squire guitar identification guide serial numberAlso a back plate with serial number beginning with letter A. I think the markings are written there but maybe it faded as the time passes. The guitar itself seems legit, has the fender brand on hardwares, (pat pend on the bridge, no serial number on bridge, fender tuners) has neck heel stamp and pencil markings ( large bold letter Z and TL-72- and i think there is a number or a letter after that but it was punched with a screw) I cannot see any markings on neck pocket but there is a small piece of i think paper glued to it. I am to buy a what claimed to be a 80's fender telecaster 72 reissue, A series.
